Inspiration

Possessing the ability to create art is a wonderful gift, as far as talent goes. I work to evolve in creative ways, and to develop different styles of illustration, painting and graphic design. I find inspiration in nature, fashion, architecture, Japanese Illustrators, Art Nouveau, Pop Art and Expressionism. In a time where focus is put on getting everything done quickly and cheaply, it is important to create meaningful work that thrusts the viewer into feeling something.

Growth

The idea of making a thing from nothing is what has always driven me to create. When I was a child I spent a lot of time drawing and painting. I wrote short stories and llustrated books, designed and made clothes, took photographs, and painted background sets for plays. Art has always played a major role in my life. At the ripe age of twelve I participated in a two year artist apprenticeship where I studied college level drawing, painting and art history. In high school, I was placed in advanced placement studio art.

EXPERIENCE

My painting work started with watercolor and acrylics, but oil became my medium of choice. As my oil work progressed, I discovered my love for abstract expressionist painting. In college I branched off into graphic design and photography work. I developed a strong background in magazine layout, publishing and experience in creative direction. In 2003 I started working on print and web magazine publications with volunteer writers and photographers. I published a print magazine and an online magazine. Both magazines concentrated on art, fashion and electronic music culture. My publishing experience grew, as I worked six years for a company that developed newspaper websites for the publication of news content. Today I work as a freelance graphic designer and artist.
