This 12″ x 16″ oil on canvas was painted from a photograph I took on my birthday at Cheekwood Botanic Gardens in Nashville, TN. It was a beautiful deep purple iris that was shifting around in the breeze, was a gorgeous warm sunny day. I knew I wanted to paint this flower as soon as I saw it! My technique was a bit different with this piece, it was mostly painted in one day and finished the second day after adding a lot more color to the iris flower. I used a lot more medium with this one, the paint was applied very thinly. I am very proud of it!
